Angela Du Maurier (1904-2002), writer, was born in London, and was the eldest of the actor Gerald du Maurier's three daughters, and sister of Daphne, the writer, and Jeanne, the artist. She originally, following the family tradition, planned to become an actor and spent two seasons on the stage.
